9:45 p.m. update:  We understand that some students are having difficulty accessing PowerSchool utilizing the phone app.

Unfortunately, the app on both iOS and Android devices can produce inconsistent results, especially when logging into the system to do the required password change. Some students may see denied access with the app. Others may gain access to PowerSchool with their outdated credentials while using their old cached phone credentials. This is an issue with the PowerSchool app.

As in past years, the PowerSchool student portal is available for all students in grades 5-12. The PowerSchool parent portal is available for parents to view their students at all grade levels.

Parents should use the ID and password that they established in previous school years.

To resolve this issue, students in grades 5-12 will need to log in from a computer or Chromebook at https://hanover.powerschool.com to initiate the password change. Do not use the phone app.

Students should enter their username (the part to the left of the @ of your Google Username) and enter the default password of their date of birth using the format of mmddyyyyy.

Example: Google ID is [email protected] – PowerSchool ID would be smithjk; Date of birth of March 7, 2010 would be a password format of 03072010

Once the password is changed through the PowerSchool web page, students can initiate the connection to PowerSchool through their phone app if they choose. We have found some inconsistencies in the way the apps respond to password changes, so you may wish to remove the app from your phone and reinstall. Be sure to enter your username in all lowercase letters: the app has a known bug that may deny login if uppercase letters are entered for the user ID.

We hope this information is helpful to you when gaining access to PowerSchool for the 2020-2021 school year.

5 p.m. update:
PowerSchool has informed us that it has restored service. There is an outage across the East Coast, meaning future disruptions are possible. We appreciate your patience.

2:45 p.m. update:
PowerSchool has notified us that its system crashed, likely due to high demand. We will provide you with an update once PowerSchool restores service. Thank you for your continued patience.

1:30 p.m. update:
Our instructional staff has updated schedules. An unforeseen technical issue shows PowerSchool as still being disabled. We understand and echo your frustration and are working to have the schedules available to you as soon as possible. We will let you know as soon as the site is up and running. Thank you for your continued patience.

Earlier message: Today is the day for the release of student schedules for the first semester. Schedules will be available in PowerSchool by 1 p.m.

Please note that some schedules may be incomplete or may be changed over the weekend. Please check again on Monday to make sure that your child’s schedule has not changed. We appreciate your patience and grace during these times.

Message from Hanover Online School Principal Dr. Dana Gresham:

Dear Secondary Online Parents,

A division level message was just released indicating that secondary student schedules will not be released until Friday at 1:00 p.m. This will necessitate some changes to our secondary orientation plan for tomorrow.

We will still release links to introductory videos as well as other information at 9:00 as planned. (You will find the links in this document.) After 1:00 on Friday your children will be able to access welcome messages from their teachers in Schoology. There will also be a process for requesting assistance with schedule concerns.

Please know that we are eager to welcome our students, and we know the waiting is difficult! Thank you for your patience!
