Battlefield Park Elementary School Replacement
Hanover County Public Schools is proud to be replacing Battlefield Park Elementary School with a new school building scheduled to open for the 2026-27 school year.
Timeline To Date
- May 2018: At a School Board work session, Board members learned through the results of a study requested by the Board that Battlefield Park Elementary School is in need of replacement.
- September 2018: The School Board reaches consensus to prioritize the replacement of BPES among other projects identified in the study.
- May 2023: The Capital Improvement Plan adopted by the School Board includes the replacement of BPES.
- October 2023: HCPS and Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates host in-person input session with students, faculty and staff, and the community to garner input on the design of the replacement school.
Public Meetings
As part of the process for replacing the school building, HCPS and Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates, the Charlottesville-based architectural firm that is overseeing the replacement of the school, are seeking input through a series of meetings with students, faculty, staff, and the broader community.
The community meetings will be held as follows:
- Wednesday, October 25 at 6:30 p.m. at BPES
- Wednesday, November 8 at 6:30 p.m. (Virtual); more information on this meeting will be shared in the near future.
