The Transportation Department provides transportation services that support the educational, athletics, and administrative needs of the school division. The goal of the Department of Transportation is to provide safe and efficient services in a manner that promotes learning and encourages student success. With over 260 employees, the department transports approximately 11,000 students to and from 25 schools daily, using a fleet of 268 school buses and 30 light vehicles.
The mission of the Transportation Department is to provide our students with safe, effective and efficient transportation to and from school. Our Department understands that this is an enormous responsibility and the department works very hard to provide services in a responsible and professional manner.
Many students' school days begin and end on the school bus. With this in mind, each member of the transportation team remains focused on supporting student achievements and serving students and their families.
Each School Bus Driver is trained to promote positive behaviors and instruct riders on safety procedures. It is important to remember that bus drivers are driving large vehicles and their primary responsibility is the safe operation of the bus to and from your student’s destination. The school bus is much larger and heavier than all other cars on the road. This means that the driver must remain focused on the road. In an effort to provide the best services possible, we request that parents instruct their children in the rules of proper bus behavior. Your student’s behavior has a direct impact on the safety of others.
