Hanover County Public Schools has chosen to use Chromebooks to support the digital learning initiative. Chromebooks were chosen for several factors including:
- Ability to be managed from division level to ensure student online safety.
- Ability to integrate with existing systems and instructional resources.
- Quick start-up/shut-down times to protect instructional time.
- Built in virus protection to protect student data.
- Battery life (10+ hours) to ensure continuity of the instructional day.
- Durability to withstand daily use by students.

Chromebook Information Session
Live streaming presentations occurred on May 7, 2020, to help inform parents and guardians about blended learning, device care, and managing the devices at home. Below is a recording of the noon session. A copy of the presentation slides with speakers notes is available online.
Family Handbook
Hanover County Public Schools has created a handbook for families that mirrors much of the information in this section of the website and the information that was included in the live streaming presentations. This handbook can be printed or downloaded and used for quick reference when students bring their devices home.

Device Specifications
The device selected has been specifically manufactured for the k–12 education market. As such, the Chromebook includes durable features such as an embedded keyboard, rubberized edges, and a reinforced chassis. We believe this unit will prove to be a solid mobile device for Hanover County Public Schools students. Approximate dimensions of the Chromebook are: Thickness 1" x Width: 12" x Depth: 8"
