We support the implementation of evidence-based practices to increase the academic achievement and social and emotional competence of students based upon individual needs.
The Office of Special Education Instruction directs and supports the development, implementation, operation, and evaluation of Pre K–12 educational programs, curricula, and services that meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. The office plans and provides professional development for staff and administrators and provides instructional leadership for, and supervision, coordination, and evaluation of early childhood, elementary, secondary, career and transition programs and services.

Restraint and Seclusion
Hanover County Public Schools' Restraint and Seclusion procedures have been implemented in accordance with the Virginia Department of Education regulations and School Board Policy 7-1.6. These procedures ensure that appropriate measures are taken before, during and after a behavior incident where a student is in danger of inflicting serious physical harm or injury to self or others.
