Hanover County Public Schools LogoDear Families, Faculty, and Staff,

We hope you are well. We are writing today to share with you an important update regarding the replacement of Battlefield Park Elementary School and the renovation of Beaverdam Elementary School.

As you may know, a facilities study commissioned by the School Board in 2018 recommended a replacement of Battlefield Park Elementary School (BPES) and a renovation of Beaverdam Elementary School (BES). In an exciting development, the five-year Capital Improvement Plan approved by the School Board earlier this year includes the replacement of BPES and renovation of BES, advancing the schedule for both projects. Building on the current construction of Ashland Elementary School, this represents the continued investment in the future of school buildings across HCPS that will serve generations to come. The replacement of BPES and the renovation of BES are expected to take place over the next three school years with completion prior to the 2026-27 school year.

As part of the process for these two projects, HCPS and Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates, the Charlottesville-based architectural firm that is overseeing the design of the projects, are seeking input through a series of meetings with students, faculty, staff, and the broader community. The community meetings will be held as follows:

Battlefield Park Elementary School

- Community: Wednesday, October 25 at 6:30 p.m. at BPES
- Community: Wednesday, November 8 at 6:30 p.m. (Virtual); more information on this meeting will be shared in the near future.

Beaverdam Elementary School

- Community: Monday, October 9 at 6:30 p.m. at BES
- Community: Thursday, October 26 at 6:30 p.m. (Virtual); more information on this meeting will be shared in the near future.

The community meetings are open to the public. If you have any questions about the meetings or these projects, please email [email protected].

We hope you will join us in our excitement for these projects and we look forward to your participation throughout this process. Thank you.
