Gifted Advisory Committee

The Gifted Advisory Committee (GAC) advises the local school division of the education needs of all gifted students in the division.

  • GAC will provide a forum for information about school and community programs, advocacy, support, procedural guidelines, procedures, school board initiatives, educational enrichment, resources, and data. 
  • GAC will provide suggestions for addressing educational issues and programs.
  • GAC will promote and encourage parent and community involvement concerning gifted education issues and initiatives.
  • GAC will promote diversity so that students who are gifted are representative of the population of Hanover County Public Schools. 
  • GAC shall review annually the local plan for the education of gifted students, including revisions, and determine the extent to which the plan for the previous year was implemented.

The GAC of Hanover County Public Schools is always looking for interested parents and community members to join in its mission of promoting educational excellence for gifted students. To apply, please complete the online application, which closes on May 13, 2024.

GAC Advisory Committee Meetings

Throughout the year, the HCPS GAC conducts public meetings. The GAC encourages and welcomes public comment during the public meetings from individuals or organizations to voice global concerns and matters of interest regarding the education of gifted students.

Community members wishing to speak should contact the committee facilitator at [email protected]. Public comment is limited to three minutes per speaker.

Written public comment is also welcomed and may be sent to [email protected].
