The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Advisory Committee assists Hanover County Public Schools’ career and technical education programming in the following capacities:
- Advise on current and projected programming/workforce needs relevant to the local economy and beyond;
- Review and provide suggestions on the division’s Perkins plan and accompanying funding;
- Provide formal CTE program review and oversight for curriculum improvement/modernization;
- Assist in the placement of students in work-based educational opportunities and employment;
- Facilitate equipment and monetary donations;
- Identify business and community representatives who may serve as role models/mentors for students and teachers;
- Provide publicity and public relations for CTE programming in the local community and beyond;
- Participate and be engaged with other HCPS school division committees: HCPS Comprehensive Plan, Capital Improvement, etc.;
- Inform/promote state and national leaders on career and technical education initiatives, needs and concerns; and
- Support and recognize student organization activities/awards at the local, regional, state, and national level.

The Hanover County Public Schools CTE Advisory Committee is always looking for interested students, parents, community members, and business representatives to be considered for joining the committee. To apply, please complete the online application, which closes on May 13, 2024.

CTE Advisory Committee Meetings
Throughout the year, the HCPS CTE Advisory Committee conducts public meetings. The CTE Advisory Committee encourages and welcomes public comment during the public meetings from individuals or organizations to voice global concerns and matters of interest regarding career and technical education.
Community members wishing to speak should contact Justin Roerink via email. Public comment is limited to three minutes per speaker.
Written public comment is also welcomed and may be sent via email.
Location of meetings: CTE Advisory Committee meetings take place at different middle and high schools in the division throughout the year. The meeting location will be posted on BoardDocs, along with the agenda, in advance of the meeting.
