Pole Green ES Update: Feb. 6, 2026
Dear PGES Families, Faculty, and Staff,
Pole Green Elementary School is currently experiencing an unknown smell in the school. Our valued partners with Hanover Fire-EMS and the Hanover County Public Schools maintenance department are responding to the school. At this time, we do not know the cause of the smell nor do we have an estimated time for when it will be safe for students and staff. Accordingly,
Pole Green Elementary School will be CLOSED on Friday, February 6.
Students who have already been picked up by the bus will be dropped off at Hanover High School. Pole Green staff will be onsite to welcome them and care for their needs, including meal service. Parents and guardians of these students, please pick your student up from Hanover High. Please bring a valid photo ID. Please park in the parking lot and come to the front office. Students will remain under adult supervision as long as needed until they are picked up.
We will share additional information as it becomes available. We sincerely apologize for this unplanned disruption and thank you for your understanding.
