Inclement Weather UpdateDear Families, Faculty, and Staff,

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for Hanover County until 7 a.m. tomorrow, and our team continues to carefully evaluate conditions. According to the National Weather Service, treacherous driving conditions are expected for much of the area late tonight through tomorrow morning due to additional frozen precipitation and refreezing of roadways. This includes for our buses, student drivers, and staff. As a result, HCPS will be CLOSED on Tuesday, January 7. Employees use Code 6. At the earliest possible time, only designated emergency personnel report to work. All other employees work remotely as able.

We understand this is disruptive and sincerely appreciate your patience as we work to make the best possible decisions for our students and staff. We hope that sharing this information well in advance is helpful to you as you begin to make the necessary arrangements.

Please note that tomorrow remains Election Day for the Virginia State Senate District 10 Special Election. Polling places, including five of our schools, will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. More information can be found on the Hanover County Government website.

As a reminder, we offer several convenient ways for you to stay up-to-date with the latest closings or delays that may be necessary. Please take a moment to select the best option(s) for you and your family.
