Inclement Weather Update: Jan. 25, 2026

Dear Families, Faculty, and Staff,
We hope you are warm and well. Inclement weather continues to impact Hanover County, which remains under a Winter Storm Warning from the National Weather Service until 7 p.m. on Monday. The Hanover County Administrator has signed a declaration of local emergency and the Governor has also declared a State of Emergency. Travel conditions are hazardous, which is expected to continue due to temperatures that are forecasted to be well below freezing, preventing melting on roadways.
As a result, HCPS will be CLOSED on Monday, January 26. Employees use Code 0, meaning no one reports to work. This is a system-wide closing.
Please note that
all after-school activities and events are canceled for Monday, January 26. Building access by school and community organizations will not be permitted. We will communicate any further delays or closures that may be necessary as quickly as possible.
We understand this is disruptive and sincerely appreciate your patience as we work to make the best possible decisions for our students and staff. We hope that sharing this information well in advance is helpful to you as you begin to make the necessary arrangements.
Please also note that
a communication is forthcoming regarding the impact of tomorrow’s school closure on the 2025-26 school calendar. Please stay tuned.
As always, we appreciate your support. Thank you.
Stay safe and warm,
Hanover County Public Schools
