Dear Families, Faculty, and Staff,

We hope you are having a great week. We are proud to share with you that our students continue to achieve at the highest levels in Virginia according to new data from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE).

The VDOE recently released graduation rates for the Class of 2024 as well as accreditation ratings for schools across Virginia. VDOE had previously released Standards of Learning (SOL) pass rates for the 2023-24 school year.

Please note the following regarding our academic success:

- For the 12th straight year, the HCPS on-time graduation rate exceeds 95 percent and this year’s 96.2 percent rate is the highest in our school division since 2014. The state on-time graduation rate for the Class of 2024 was 92.8 percent.
- A higher percentage of our students graduated with advanced diplomas (65 percent for HCPS compared with 51 percent across the state).
- HCPS students continue to outperform state averages in reading, math, science, and history.
- HCPS has the highest SOL pass rate in math among Virginia’s 15 largest school divisions.
- A total of 23 out of 24 of our schools received full accreditation, the highest percentage in the Richmond area. Liberty Middle School is Accredited with Conditions due to a School Quality Indicator that is Below Standard, demonstrating that additional work is needed to close achievement gaps in math.
- Our chronic absenteeism rate improved, dropping from 8.6 percent to 7.5 percent.
