Full Message/Details
Dear Families, Faculty, and Staff,
We hope you are well. We are writing to follow up with you regarding the boundary adjustment implementation plan.
As we shared with you on Wednesday, the Hanover County School Board has approved the Green Scenario for boundary adjustments following months of community engagement, collaboration, and research.
The School Board also approved the boundary adjustment implementation plan.
Please note that the approved implementation plan includes the following:
- A waiver process for the 2026-27 school year for 12th grade, eighth grade, and fifth grade (2027-28 for Giles) students to remain at their current school.
- A waiver process for students who will be kindergarteners in the 2025-26 school year to begin the school year at their newly zoned school.
- A waiver process to allow all current and rising middle and high school students impacted by boundary adjustments to attend their newly zoned school beginning in the 2025-26 school year.
The presentation from Tuesday night’s meeting can be found
on BoardDocs. As you will note,
all waivers will be dependent upon school and grade level capacity, will require parent transportation, and will be processed as they are received.
The School Board also voted Tuesday to encourage current school year eighth and ninth grade students impacted by boundary adjustments to move to their newly zoned high school beginning in the 2025-26 school year. While not required, the early transition is intended to help students build connections, access academic and extracurricular opportunities, and ease the adjustment process ahead of full implementation.
Waiver Process
Please note that
we will communicate more information this fall on the waiver process for students who will be in 12th grade, eighth grade, and fifth grade in the 2026-27 school year.
For the 2025-26 school year waivers that only apply to 2025-26 kindergarteners and all current and rising middle and high school students who are impacted by the boundary adjustments, please note the following:
- Waivers can be completed using
this form.
- The deadline to complete the form for the 2025-26 school year is Friday, June 6.
- Waiver process decisions for the 2025-26 school year will be communicated no later than Friday, July 25.
- The specific adjustments in the adopted Green Scenario can be found
here.
Again, we encourage current school year eighth and ninth grade students impacted by boundary adjustments to move to their newly zoned high school beginning in the 2025-26 school year.
We appreciate our community’s support throughout this process and are committed to a thoughtful implementation of both the adjustments and plan.
Thank you.
