Dear Families, Faculty, and Staff,
We hope you are having a great last week of school. We are writing today to update you on the school calendar for the 2023-24 school year.
At its meeting last night,
the Hanover County School Board approved the start and end dates for the 2023-24 school year (not the upcoming school year, but the following school year). Accordingly, the 2023-24 school year will begin on Monday, August 21, 2023 and the school year will end on Friday, May 31, 2024. Under this calendar, new teachers will report on August 7, 2023 and the teacher work week will be August 14-18, 2023.
The full calendar for the 2023-24 school year will be developed by the Calendar Committee, which consists of parents, teachers, support employees, and administrators, and is expected to be voted on by the School Board this fall. As always, we will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
As a reminder,
this change is for the 2023-24 school year, not next school year. The 2022-23 school calendar has been approved and starts on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 and ends on Thursday, June 15, 2023. More information on the 2022-23 calendar can be found
