HCPS LogoJanuary 21, 2022 11 a.m. Update:

Dear Families,

It was brought to our attention this morning that many of you did not receive last night’s phone call sent at 7:30 p.m. announcing the two-hour delay for this morning. This appears to be an issue with our vendor, and we are working as quickly as possible with our vendor to resolve this to ensure that it does not happen again. We sincerely regret any inconvenience that it may have caused.

As a reminder, we use multiple communications channels to share important information, as outlined below. This helps to ensure maximum reach, as well as redundancy in the rare event that one or more of our systems fails. Please take a moment to review the following options to make sure you are able to stay up-to-date with the latest closings or delays that may be necessary.

- Social media – Find it here first! (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
- HCPS website
- Schoology (Parents and Students)
- TV99 (Comcast Channel 99)
- Local media outlets
- Blackboard Connect – email, text, and phone notification system.

Again, we are sorry for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused, and we appreciate your continued patience, grace, and kindness. Have a great weekend.

Good morning,

Our team has been up early and has carefully evaluated travel conditions as a result of yesterday’s inclement weather. As a result, we do not plan to have any further delays or a closure today. Please continue to follow the two-hour delayed opening schedule. We appreciate your continued patience and look forward to seeing our students soon! We hope you have a great Friday and weekend!

Stay safe, warm, and healthy,

Chris Whitley

Original January 20, 2022 Message:

Good evening,

We hope you are warm and well. Our team continues to monitor weather and travel conditions as a result of the latest snow and ice that impacted our area. Temperatures are currently below freezing and are forecasted to continue dropping, causing a deep freeze overnight. This, combined with today’s inclement weather, is expected to cause hazardous travel conditions on many roadways in the morning.

As a precaution, HCPS will be opening on a two-hour delay for ALL face-to-face and online STUDENTS and ALL EMPLOYEES on Friday, January 21. Essential personnel will be contacted as needed.

Please note (and this is important), a two-hour delay is intended to allow HCPS staff additional time to further assess conditions and make a final determination on whether or not to open the school division.
We will communicate any additional closings or delays that may be necessary as quickly as possible so you can begin making the necessary arrangements for your student.

We understand this is disruptive and sincerely appreciate your patience as we work to make the best possible decisions for our students and staff. Again, we will communicate a final decision in the morning.

Stay safe, warm, and healthy,

Chris Whitley
Assistant Superintendent of Community Engagement and Legislative Affairs
