Public Input Sought on Textbook Adoption for K-5 Science and High School Environmental Science Course

We are seeking the public’s input on textbooks being considered for adoption for use during elementary science instruction and high school Environmental Science beginning in the 2026-27 school year. HCPS staff have identified these resources as their preference, and Hanover County stakeholders are now encouraged to examine the resources and provide written feedback.

Instructional materials can be reviewed by the public as follows:

April 14-28, 2026

- Ashland Branch Library (201 S Railroad Avenue, Ashland, VA 23005; 804-798-4072)
- Atlee Branch Library (9212 Rutlandshire Drive, Mechanicsville, VA 23116; 804-559-0654)
- Mechanicsville Branch Library (7461 Sherwood Crossing Place, Mechanicsville, VA 23111; 804-746-9615)
- Montpelier Branch Library (15302 Clazemont Road, Montpelier, VA 23192; 804-883-5117)

The libraries are open Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. More information on the libraries, including contact information to confirm hours of operation, is available on the Pamunkey Regional Library website.

Assessment forms will be available at each location to collect written feedback from stakeholders regarding the instructional materials.
