Community Equity Advisory Board

Equity is meeting students where they are and providing them the resources, tools, and supports they need to maximize their potential.

The Community Equity Advisory Board (CEAB) was formed in late 2018, in part, as a response to the HCPS Long Range Plan 2017–2023. Specifically, goal one, bullet three, that states: “By fall of 2019, HCPS will explore opportunities that promote equity and cultural competence, to include parent and community outreach and input”. Initially, during the board's meetings, HCPS employees provided information to our community members and responded to their areas of interest. For example, the board explored discipline numbers and enrollment at an early meeting. It has evolved since then into an advisory board that helped write the equity policy for Hanover County Public Schools, created bylaws, and made recommendations to the School Board. Advisory board members meet monthly as a whole group and as needed as one of three smaller groups that focus on policy, communication, and membership.

Application

CEAB has up to 25 members. The application to serve on the CEAB is open and will stay open through Saturday, April 30.
