Volunteers Make a Difference in Schools

The Hanover County Public School System is fortunate to receive services from many volunteers who eagerly help our schools. Their tasks vary with the needs of individual schools. Volunteers share their knowledge, skills, and abilities to:

  • Promote academic success for students;

  • Assist teachers with instructional activities and materials;

  • Chaperone educational field trips;

  • Help with special projects such as festivals, sport events, etc.;

  • Provide clerical assistance in the office and library;

  • Share expertise on career opportunities; and/or

  • Be role models and mentors.

During the 2015-2016 school year, over 63,000 hours of service were donated to our schools by nearly 9,000 volunteers!
