Principal, Mrs. Alicia Cecil

Welcome to South Anna Elementary, home of the Spirit Riders.  I am excited to begin my third year serving as principal for this special school community.  It is a privilege to work with motivated students, dedicated faculty and staff, supportive parents, and an involved community.  The 2017-2018 school year holds much promise.  We will continue our commitment to exceptional teaching, optimal learning, and individual success in a nurturing, safe, fun environment.  Together as a team, we can make each day a great day for learning for each child.

Each year we select a theme that promotes our school-wide focus.  This year’s theme is “Climbing the Learning TREE,” and magical learning adventures await our students.  As students investigate, create, explore, solve, and share in their classrooms and the new Innovation Studio, they will experience “timely, rigorous, equitable, empowering” learning.  Our mission is to provide the best learning opportunities possible in order that all Spirit Riders reach their maximum potential.  We are excited for students to “do their best and be their best.”

I look forward to working with you and your child(ren) as we create lasting relationships and memories.  I encourage you to get involved and volunteer your time and talents, join the PTA, and attend school events.

If there is any way that I can assist you this year, please contact me at or (804) 749-4222.

Assistant Principal, Mr. Ray Heatwole

Welcome Spirit Riders, new and returning, to the 2016-17 year. An exciting new school year awaits you with opportunities to learn and grow.  This year’s theme is “Deep SEA Learning,” and the SEA stands for setting goals, exerting effort, and achieving personal success. We will continue to dive in learning, just deeper!

I’m proud to be a part of the South Anna family. We are blessed with tremendous community support and a faculty and staff that are dedicated to providing rigorous academic instruction in a setting that encourages students to do their best and be their best each and every day. I look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones on the first day of school!

Happy new school year!

Ray Heatwole
