New Lunch Guidelines:
In an effort maintain the highest level of student safety possible, HCPS has implemented a new procedure for visitors eating lunch with elementary students in the school cafeteria. This will take effect beginning with the 2017-2018 school year. Please review the new procedures outlined below.
Parents and Legal Guardians: (No Change)
Parents/guardians will continue to sign-in using the computer in the front office to obtain a visitorís pass. Parents/guardians may then eat lunch with their child at the designated visitor table.
Relatives and Other Visitors: (New)
A written permission note from the studentís parent/guardian is required each time a relative or other visitor wants to eat lunch with a child.
The note must be sent in advance with the student and given to the studentís teacher (similar to a bus pass).
The note must include the childís name, visitorís name, and the date of the visit, and it must be signed by the parent/guardian.
Phone calls, e-mails, or text messages will not be accepted because the sender cannot always be authenticated.
Visitors are required to sign-in using the computer in the front office to obtain a visitorís pass. Visitors will also be required to show a picture ID.
Visitors may then eat lunch with the student they are visiting at the designated table.

BIG News at the Creek!
ALEXANDRIA, VA. - The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) is pleased to announce Kersey Creek, in Mechancisville, VA as a Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) school. The RAMP designation, awarded for aligning with the criteria in the ASCA National Model, recognizes schools that are committed to delivering a comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program and an exemplary educational environment. Since the program's inception, over 650 schools have been designated as RAMP recipients.
"This year's RAMP honorees have shown their commitment to students and the school counseling profession," said Jill Cook, ASCA assistant director. "These schools used data to drive their program development and implementation so all students can achieve success. RAMP designation distinguishes these schools and encourages school counselors nationwide to strive for excellence."
Kersey Creek will be honored at a recognition ceremony at ASCA's annual conference in Denver, Co. on Monday, July 10, 2017, for making an exemplary commitment to comprehensive school counseling programs.
On a more personal note, Kersey Creek salutes Ms. Paige Abasolo on this astronomical achievement. We are the first Hanover School to earn this honor! Ms. Abasolo worked for two years to earn this certification for our school, and was recently recognized for earning it with distinction and honors! We are beyond blessed to have such an amazing school counselor at Kersey Creek!
