First STEAM day a success!

Thank you to all the families who donated time and materials for our first STEAM day!  If you didn't have a chance to see the variety of Gingerbread Houses at the Winter Parties, check out Facebook!  KC Comet has been posting pictures as they've been sent to her, and we definitely have some future engineers hiding as Comets right now!

November Service Project

Congratulations to Kersey Creek for collecting over 2,000 canned food items for our Christmas Mother Project!  That's more than triple what we've done before!!!!  The lucky winners of an hour of STEAM with Mrs. J-D are the first grade team, who supported our school efforts with over 400 cans alone!  We are #caringcomets

Book Drive

We were also able to help Chimborazo Elementary School in Henrico this fall with a book drive.  During our PTA book fair, students were invited to bring in new and gently used books to donate.  We collected 450 books!  Amazing!  The willingness to give is such a beautiful thing and I love how strong it is in our #caringcomets.

January Service Project

Our theme in January will be "Warm Hands make for Warm Hearts".  We will be collecting new and gently used gloves and mittens (of all sizes) in our three baskets in the foyer.  Students we be able to vote on an organization to receive a $100 donation from our SCA through which basket receives the most donations.  More information will come home via an SCA flyer in the new year.
