        Welcome  to

Hanover County Reading Olympics

What is the Reading Olympics?

Reading Olympics has enjoyed many very successful years in Hanover County!  The Reading Olympics is a program designed to promote reading, teamwork, self confidence, and fun! A group of 4th and 5th grade students  work as a team to collectively read  32 books over the course of 5 months (from Oct.-March). The books range in reading ability from 3rd to 6th grade in topics such as mystery,  historical fiction,  biography, and many more. In March, the teams will gather for an Olympic competition. Teams will be asked questions about the books. Teams with correct answers are awarded  points that add up to gold, silver, and bronze medals. The medals will be presented at the Olympic medal ceremony in front of the teams and invited guests. All of the participants will receive a medal for their hard work and dedication to reading!

The Reading Olympics is graciously sponsored by a grant from the Hanover Education Foundation, the local PTA organizations, and the Hanover County Schools.
