Title I Program

The Title I Program for Hanover County Public Schools provides students in grades K-5 with additional instruction in reading/language arts and mathematics. The services include one reading/mathematics resource teacher per school to provide reading and/or mathematics supplemental instruction to targeted students in grades K-5.  Our Title I teachers assist students as they develop into fluent readers, writers and mathematicians.

The Title I staff offers a comprehensive program of services for students and their families.  Most Title I teachers are trained in the Reading Recovery method of reading instruction.  Reading Recovery is intensive, one on one instruction with selected first grade students.  In addition to Reading Recovery, our teachers work with students who need additional assistance learning to read and write in grades K-2.
