NHS Speaker Series kicks off next Thursday, October 23rd, during A4! Kathy Z. Gillis, Head of Sculpture & Decorative Arts Conservation at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, will speak to NHS members and to Ms. McNamara's Art IV & IB Art students during A4 (2:00 - 3:20 pm) in Room 207 here at HHS.

She will give a presentation about art conservation and talk about her career path in the field and how students can explore the world of art conservation and museum work.

Many NHS members have early release that day, but if you have a class, Mr. Taylor will write you a pass for A4 so that you can attend this event if your A4 teacher allows . You need to get your pass from me prior to the event. See Mr. Taylor at the NHS New Member meeting after school on Tuesday, October 21, or in his classroom, 108 to get a pass.

This will be a cool presentation! Kathy Gillis has just returned from Beijing where she was in charge of packing up the "Forbidden City" exhibition, which opens at VMFA this weekend. We are lucky to snag her mere days before she moves to the West Coast to take over as Head of Conservation at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco.
