Sara Salvato, a Special Education teacher at Lee-Davis High School (LDHS), has been selected as the Hanover County Public Schools Teacher of the Year. Salvato has been employed with Hanover County Public Schools since 2003 and a teacher at LDHS since 2011. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater College and Master’s degree from Liberty University. Salvato is also a former Hanover County Public Schools graduate.

I'm excited to be part of this incredible community, which does so much for its students. I am so proud of my current and former students and their families. They have helped shape me into the teacher that I am today.”

Mr. Charles Stevens, LDHS Principal, said, “Mrs. Salvato has been a valued member of our Lee-Davis family for the past six years. Her positive attitude and love for the children she serves are reflected in the quality of the functional academics program she has maintained. She works collaboratively with a team of people to ensure inclusive learning opportunities for all students in the program. She is tremendously loyal and dedicated to our school community, and we could not be more proud of her recognition as Hanover County Teacher of the Year.”

She focuses on the strengths of her students and removes barriers so that they can achieve their dreams. I am proud to have Mrs. Salvato as a member of our staff and feel she is the perfect choice for our Teacher of the Year,” said Diane Brown, Director of Special Education.

The school division employs approximately 1,400 teachers. Each year, the division selects one teacher for this distinguished award who is actively and meaningfully involved in the school and community and can serve as a role model and ambassador for teachers in the division.
