Christopher Martinez, New PHHS Principal

We are excited to share with you that the school board appointed Mr. Christopher Martinez as the new principal of Patrick Henry High School (PHHS) at the November 6, 2018, school board meeting. Mr. Martinez will begin serving in his new role on January 1, 2019. In the meantime, Mr. Cash will continue serving as the interim principal. Please join us in extending Mr. Martinez a warm welcome to the PH PHamily!

Christopher MartinezMr. Martinez began his career in education in 2005 as a high school math teacher at Highland Springs High School in Henrico County, and he has been employed with Hanover County Public Schools since 2008. He has served with distinction in a variety of roles to include assistant principal, department chair, summer school administrator and coordinator, high school math teacher, assistant athletics director, head J.V. baseball coach, and assistant varsity and J.V. football coach. In addition to his current role as an assistant principal at PHHS, Mr. Martinez also serves as the division’s chairperson of the Profile of a Hanover Graduate Committee.

Mr. Martinez earned a master of education degree, bachelor of science in mathematical science degree, and post-master’s certificate in administration and supervision from Virginia Commonwealth University. He and his wife, Nadia, have two children, and we extend our kindest regards to his family.

In closing, we want to express our appreciation to everyone who provided valuable feedback over the past few months as we conducted our search. Whether it was participating in a focus group, survey, or the interview panel, your input helped us to better identify the qualities and characteristics you expect in the new PHHS principal. In addition, we are equally grateful for your support, patience, and understanding over the past several months as we have worked diligently to select the right candidate for this position.

Lastly, we extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Cash for his strong leadership, warm demeanor, and steady hand as he and his team have worked hard to provide the very best experience for all students during this time of transition.
