Outdoor Performing Arts Events Update

Spectator Attendance at Outdoor Performing Arts Events Update
Posted on 03/19/2021
HCPS LogoDear Middle and High School Families, Faculty, and Staff,

We hope this email finds you and your loved ones safe and well. We are writing with an important update regarding spectators’ attendance at outdoor performing arts events for students.

After careful consideration and in consultation with our School Board and our principals, we have decided to allow spectators at student performances held outside. We will continue to follow the Governor’s executive order on COVID-19 restrictions, which permits up to 250 spectators or 30 percent capacity - whichever is lower.

Attendees will be required to sit in family units, similar to the arrangements we have outlined for fall and spring sports outdoor competitions.

Spectators will be required to maintain physical distancing of greater than 10 feet from other household/spectator groups and wear face coverings at all times while on school property. Failure to do so will result in being asked to abide by these requirements, followed by ejection, if necessary.

We recognize that not all programs are functioning in the same way this year. This means that some performing arts programs will not be able to offer outdoor performances.

Thank you for your continued patience, support, and vigilance. We look forward to enjoying our students’ talents in-person in the very near future.

Sincerely,

Dr. Michael Gill, Superintendent of Schools
Mrs. Jennifer Greif, Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Leadership
Dr. Steve Castle, Director of Curriculum and Instruction
Mr. Barry Flowe, Performing Arts Curriculum Specialist
