Support at Home

Will child care be provided for children of essential workers and first responders, teachers?

HCPS will support any County Parks and Recreation emergency childcare program.

Will training be provided for parents/caregivers regarding how to work with children in a virtual learning situation?

Yes, In early grades (K-5), direct support will be offered to “Learning Coaches” who are supporting young learners at home. This support will come in a variety of formats to include simple instructions for learning activities and digital learning modules for how to navigate Schoology. In upper grades (6-12), students will be much more self-reliant as they work in virtual learning environments. Therefore, support will still be offered, but this will be more dependent upon the individual requests of those providing support for learning at home.

Will training for using Schoology be provided to parents?

Yes, Hanover has created training that will be available for parents to become familiar with Schoology. We will start encouraging joining and training work in Schoology after the August student rollover.
