Can school officials guarantee the safety of my child at school?

Hanover County Public Schools will follow its health plan that was developed based upon recommendation from the CDC, AAP, and WHO in consultation with the Virginia Department of Health ll guidelines provided by the CDC in order to reduce the likelihood of transmission of COVID-19.

What happens if school closes again?

We are preparing now in case this should happen. If a classroom, school, or the division closes, teachers will be prepared to move swiftly to a distance learning model and keep instruction moving. Clear expectations will be provided for students and parents as well as information on how students will be held accountable for classwork.

At what point would HCPS decide to close schools?

HCPS will follow the Executive Orders of the Governor and the guidance of the Virginia Department of Health.
